Vacancy: Senior Solicitor – Inverness

Senior Solicitor (Grade 7) – CLAO Highland and Islands

Full time; fixed term (18 months, with possible extension)

We are seeking to recruit a Senior Solicitor for our Highland and Islands Civil Legal Assistance Office (CLAO) in Inverness. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced litigator to help shape how we deliver holistic legal services to rural and island communities within CLAO and our wider Client Legal Services Directorate.

You will assist the Head of Office and be part of a team providing high quality advice and representation to legally aided clients. You will be expected to manage a complex caseload within all our core areas of work, which are children’s hearings and public family law, housing and homelessness, mental health and Adults with Incapacity (AWI), benefit appeals and certain debt matters.

A significant part of this role will be focused on serving the island communities covered by the Highlands and Islands office, such as Shetland or the Outer Hebrides. This will include developing partnership and referral links with local advice and support organisations to help as many people as possible get access to justice. The role will therefore involve frequent travel and overnight stays to the scenic islands as required.

About CLAO
