We are looking for a Civil Casework Solicitor to join our CLAO Edinburgh team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled litigator with a keen interest in social welfare and public law to provide impactful holistic legal services to clients.
We have a temporary position for a skilled court solicitor for a 12-month fixed term contract within our Edinburgh and the Lothians office.
The successful candidate will be part of the experienced Edinburgh team delivering high quality specialist advice and representation to legally aided clients in predominately housing (social and private landlord eviction, homelessness, unlawful eviction, mortgage repossession, and disrepair), benefits, and debt matters.
The Edinburgh team is regularly involved in high impact work that tackles homelessness and inequalities. Therefore, in addition to managing your own rewarding and varied caseload, appearing at court/tribunals, and instructing counsel in Court of Session cases, you will have the opportunity to be involved in CLAO’s important strategic project work.
You will also work closely with external advice and support providers to help triage and refer certain cases where appropriate; provide second tier advice and training on our core areas of casework and explore opportunities for strategic partnership working to maximise the impact of our service.
The successful candidate will be passionate about using their litigation skills to improve the lives of as many people as possible. They will also be keen to be involved in continuously improving and innovating our service.
The role will be primarily based in Edinburgh with occasional travel to the Lothians. From time-to-time travel to other areas may be expected, to cover work across the network in accordance with the needs of the business.
