Our Highland and Islands team are moving to a new Inverness office

We are delighted to announce that from 1 June 2021 our Highland and Islands Civil Legal Assistance Office (CLAO) will be in new premises.

The new office is at: 2 Castle Wynd, Inverness, IV2 3EB.

We will be sharing the office with our colleagues in the Inverness Public Defenders Solicitors’ Office (PDSO).

This is the first time that CLAO and PDSO have been located together.

The new office is a centrally located, accessible, safe, welcoming space which will support us in providing our vital public legal services.

It will also allow us to consider how the space could be used for collaborative work with other partners who support the delivery of publicly funded legal assistance.

We will be seeking views on this and an update will follow.

The telephone and email contact details for Highland and Islands CLAO have not changed.

This is because our staff will not initially be in the new office every day. If you send post to our Edinburgh office it can be scanned and emailed, and should reach us more quickly.

Covid-19 – arrangements for appointments at the Inverness office

We continue to provide advice and representation services, but due to Covid-19, access to the office in person and postal services are still limited at the present time.

If you think you need to see a solicitor you should contact us by telephone or email.

If it is a new matter that we can help with or you are an existing client, an appointment will normally be arranged by telephone or video call.

You, or someone on your behalf, must contact us if you do not think that you would be able to meet with us in this way and think that you need a face to face appointment.

We will only offer a face to face appointment at present if it is safe to do so and we cannot provide our service to you in another way.
