We have offices in four locations.

  • Highland & Islands – Based in Inverness and covers the areas of Highland, Moray, Western Isles, Orkney and Shetland
  • Edinburgh – Covers the areas of City of Edinburgh, West Lothian, Midlothian and East Lothian
  • Aberdeen – Covers the areas of City of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire
  • Argyll & Bute – Based in Oban and covers the areas of Argyll & Bute.

What types of cases does each office deal with?

The following sets out the case types handled by each CLAO office. These are determined by local need and our solicitors’ areas of expertise.

Aberdeen:

1.    Housing and Homelessness: cases where eviction is threatened or proceedings are ongoing, homelessness and mortgage repossessions
2.    Money & Debt: payment actions for some types of personal debt cases referred in through agreed referrals routes
3.    Child Protection and children’s hearings
4.    Family law: specialist family law cases with a  public law aspect, including Hague Convention cases

Edinburgh:

1.    Housing and Homelessness: including sequestration where the home is being sold
2.    Welfare Benefits
3.    Money & Debt: payment actions for some types of personal debt cases

Highland and Islands, Moray and Argyll and Bute:

1.    Housing and Homelessness
2.    Money & Debt: sequestration matters and payment actions for some types of personal debt cases
3.    Child Protection and children’s hearings
4.    Family law: specialist family law cases with a  public law aspect including Hague Convention cases
